In an apocalyptic future, Pittsburgh - or at least everything above ground - is uninhabitable due to global warming.  The city moves underground, returning to its mining roots.  Denizens navigate the city via an expanded system of tunnels that mirror the aboveground typography and the travel in mining carts.  Not wanting to waste the bridge infrastructure that had defined Pittsburgh of yore, the city government uses autonomous / self-driving mining carts to take shortcuts on the surface, delivering necessary goods at a rapid speed.
